I understand where you are coming from....it's a traditional view...US, freedom and capitalism etc...but the evidence is that the US *saved* communism from defeat. And not just Stalin, but the whole post war communist gang from Mao to Ho Chi Minh to Kim Il Whatshisname and every other poxy "revolutionary" from Africa to South America to Asia.

Without US support Stalin was finished. The US Lend Lease agreement was not just with Britain but with the USSR as well.

Without a communist victory in WW2 then would there have been a Cold War? A communist China? A communist Vietnam? etc etc

Would there have been the cultural marxism and PC that exists in the West today? Would there have been mass third world immigration into western countries? The list goes on...

Lots of lives lost to the whole communist experiment if you add them up...

I'm not sure that I would have wasted the rope. Jane Fonda was to the 60's and 70's what Madonna and the Gaga were to recent times, an attention seeking little girl screaming "look at me". The only thing worse than Jane Fonda would have been Jane Fonda the martyr....
