One advantage in going into a trading halt before the markets open on a Monday morning....

It gives you all weekend to brief journalists on an embargoed basis without risking leakage into the market. That way, the journos are ready to publish as soon the official announcement is released.

You'd certainly be doing that if the results were good, but you might also do it if you wanted to put a spin on less good results.

A good strategy would be an announcement after the ASX closes today, followed by a lot of positive media and another day's trading on the ASX before the Nasdaq opens again on Tuesday...
