Hawkers sure as night follows day prices of property will creep up over time and so will wages. Sure there may be little or no wage growth now but that will not always be the case. You basically keep harping on about those with a positive view about property effectively being close minded idiots (my words paraphrasing your general view) but we don't think just about the now we think longer term. Longer term I don't see massive explosions in growth of property prices in the whole market but it will happen in some pockets at various different times because of micro reasons. Based on history alone I would be confident that over the long term things will track inflation on average and that is all a patient investor needs - does it mean your property will be worth anymore in real terms in the future no, but you will have paid for an asset bought today in tomorrows dollars and you will at the end have an asset to show for it along with an income stream. Really seems to be a hard concept for most bears to accept, but what do I expect in this era where everybody want's fast money!
