That's an interesting question (I asked something similar yesterday).
I think they knew the Nullara would be there. However, they probably didn't expect to encounter it at that particular depth. Also, if they had not fully tested/used the Nullara in Ungani-North or U1/2, why would they test it now?
Obviously the issues with U3 have proven to be a good catalyst for going deeper. In some ways, I think they have inadvertently made this drill much, much more interesting!!
Who knows what their chance of success is, but I'm sure a few people in here will be interested to see what happens on Monday or Tuesday.
If they hit oil/gas in Nullara, fantastic. If not, pack up, move on, it's U4 time...
