Isn't it time to abolish teachers? Paying tens of thousands of teachers to deliver the same message is redundant in the information age.
Just have an electronic curriculum for children over a certain age, say 7-8 yrs. Child selects from a variety of videotaped teachers, male/female, young/older. The same teacher is taped covering subject lessons from a variety of different difficulty levels, giving the child different learning pathways. Including the ability to switch to another teacher that may cover the same subject/difficulty level in a different way.
Supplemented with electronic workbooks with daily exercises and automated testing/marking.
An automated monthly email with reports on the progress of the child can then be sent to a parent. Classroom order maintained by pensioners on an honorarium.
