personally, i don't know much about it so if it is an uphill battle, it is that way
i trust human beings have varying degrees of sociopathy, i.e., lack of conscience towards harm
many mass murderers on death row exhibit the longing to stay alive so they must have something functioning within them that can serve as the basis for empathy
