world problem is population, page-18

Australia is actually one of the wettest countries in the world, however most of the rain falls in the far northern areas, only to run out to sea via the natural watercourses unused. Pretty obvious that collecting it and then piping it down south and into the dry interior would create the ability to expand food production for export. We could even have a system of canals that could not only be used for diverting much needed water, but also for tourism - nice way to see the inland.

Spot on. I just read in our The Sunday Times (page 9) how Perth has had it's driest summer in 5 years and the first dry February since 2009. It goes on how the heat is a symptom of climate change staring cynics in the face. It babbles on how the problem will get worse. Then it offers the same drivel about water wise gardens and short showers. That's the warm and fuzzy failing solution...especially with a growing population.

The Ord River could solve Australia's water issues. The solution had been staring governments in their faces for decades.

World population isn't the problem...more than enough resources but lack of committment by world governments.

Seriously...billionsxbillionsxbillions spent and World Vision still shows famine in Africa...are we that useless as a race? No wonder aliens keep a wide berth.
