technology leads to a more efficient way of doing things.. if that means a few checkout operators lose their jobs then its unfortunate but its also progress
grocery stores used to have someone entering in prices manually, and another to bag items (2 per checkout) - are you still worrying about the poor bagging guy who lost his job because of electronic registers and the point of sale plastic bag racks?
what about the poor soul who used to put prices on everything, those nasty barcodes!
