When the going gets tough, those with power will find ways of eliminating the problem. Weather it be through food shortages, poor health care etc... The world will slowly depopulate to a sustainable level and then we just repeat the process. Obviously no one will stand up and say they want to die, but your survival is reward for your or your families past successes.
