As a disgruntled Dampier shareholder I have bought some Ord shares, probably just because i was furious with the Dampier management.
From my communications with Columbus it appears that the agreement between Dampier and Ord cannot be rescinded or it would have been up for discussion at the general meeting. As Columbus put it, the opportunity that belonged to Dampier has now been given to Ord. As long as Ord meet the financial criteria the contract is written in stone.
It seems incredible that Dampier being the owner of the Plutonic Dome, access to the Barrick processing plant, with no debt and cash in the bank should go into partnership with a company in a far worse financial position than themselves
780,000 ounces of gold has been identified (there is probably quite a bit more), if NST are prepared to support Ord and the price of gold continues to rise, then it should be a marvellous opportunity for Ord.
Unfortunately these small mining companies have great difficulty in turning opportunity into profit. So although in theory it should be steal at the present Ord SP, it still feels like having a bet on the 2.30 at Ascot.
