These are experimental wells. Not so much in design, but in that the geology and reservoirs are extremely experimental. That is exactly the right term to use in this case and doesnt really indicate that they wont flow, it indicates that the results are very uncertain. It also indicates that the type of well to use for this particular geology is also uncertain. Only time and wells will reduce this uncertainty.

In regard to the delays again they dont indicate a wells potential result. They do indicate a potential staff or equipment failure and the possible need to reconsider who drills for you in the future. But in no way do they indicate a result. I have seen wells with delays be abandonded and i have seen them be prolific producers.

Some junior players mess around like this to buy them time when they have a bad result. But in the case of a company this size i wouldnt even begin to suspect this to be the case at all.
