    Matt, I sympathise with your loss. If he was in a lot of pain, it may have been the best outcome for him, but there is still a lot of heartache.

    If you have a need for funds that were invested in NST, the only advice I would offer is to seek professional advice (ie a good accountant or financial planner).

    Some issues to explore -

    Sell the amount of shares you recently acquired and set them against your original purchase @ $1.55 and obtain a Capital Gains loss as well as ready cash. You could then sell other shares at a gain without paying CG Tax.

    Sell on a graduated basis (ie 10,000 at $1.25 again at $1.35, again @ $1.45 and hold some to profit if the S/P continues to rise. This will crystalize some losses but prevent larger losses if the S/P falls.

    Even if you don't need immediate cash, the second point may be appropriate.
