Garry Brennan from Bicycle Network of Victoria should be stood down for his comments. The rear seat passenger merely opened the taxi door, the cyclist rode into it. Was it malicious or intentional from either party? Was it an accident? Could it have been prevented?
The last time I was a rear seat passenger in a taxi, I didn’t have a mirror to check to see what was coming from behind and the fellow next to me slid across to my side to exit. We should all know by now it’s extremely dangerous to exit a vehicle on the traffic side with no mirror for rear passenger use.

When you think about it shouldn’t a cyclist have similar personal protection that any smart motorcyclist would wear?
Lycra for road use, now that is plain old stupid folks.
Roads are meant for motor vehicles and cyclists need more cycle ways and should stay well clear of anything bigger than them, end of story.
Oh, and did anyone notice the other cyclists on the footpaths throughout the clip obstructing and cutting off pedestrians?
