Unfortunately they won't read your post in its entirety, just the bits that suit them.
We are not allowed to use an unregistered vehicle , even a trailer, on a road, so why should a bicycle be allowed?
Argue back and forth all day, but if anyone wants to use the road, should meet the same licensing costs and requirements as a motorist, and a reduced, but still compulsory, registration cost.
When they show the same respect to motorists and pedestrians that they demand, then perhaps the roads will be safer for all concerned.
