I don't have anything against cyclists, or motorcyclists, done both for many a day when younger. Actually my fav. dislike is people, very often mums doing the school run, and yapping on a mobile phone. Don't like people partaking in a deliberate plan to 'catch an innocent victim', to further their car 'dooring' plot. Don't like what I used to respect as an intelligent and good poster, until he came out with his "kick your mirrors" comment.
Like I said, being so conspicuous, perched high on a bike, any rude gestures, verbal abuse and blatant flaunting of road rules, especially disregard for 'red lights' makes them a stand out. Never really bothered a lot about what riders did, up until today, but since this thread was started, revealing the low tricks they get up to, found myself focusing more on cyclists road use/abuse than ever before, when I went shopping. Done nothing to further their cause for harmony on the roads by these recent actions. The only thing that could have been funny here, if the poor bugger getting out of the cab was a cyclist himself.
One day it will come that cyclists will have more and better, dedicated bike lanes, but at what expense, in injuries, anger, while we wait. Actually quite a few up where I live, and used by "family type riders", but NOT by the lycra brigade.
Stay safe sjl, but remember, the more your cohorts try and blame the motorist, the more you ALL will come under intense scrutiny from the rest of the road using public.
