France has spectacular unconventional resources .

Elixir Petroleum had an estimated 675 tcf in a 1 million acre shale and tight gas basin .

Early movers Schuepbach and Total had their licenses abrogated and Toreador , Elixir , BNK , Realm all fell victim to the ban on hydraulic fracturing .

They love changing the rules and cannot be trusted .

The lesson I've learned both from doing work with French customer and investing in companies with exposure to France and French speaking parts of Canada is that you can't make money with them .

I used to travel to France regularly for site visits and in a department of over 75 people all the work was being done by three of them , two of which were contractors who the 35hr/week working conditions laws didn't apply to .

They were gutless and paralysis set in every time they had to make a decision and they had no empathy with the realities of life in a small vendor company .

I'm not anti-French or anti-French Canadian , just world weary enough to give them a wide berth when it comes to business .
