IF I may I would like to touch on a simple way I understand faith. bare in mind there are many understandings to what Faith actually is
obviously faith and belief are not the same thing.
Faith is simply the action behind the belief, its really based on a trust of the object, thing or being. for example:
a man believes if he jumps out of a plane with a parachute he "should" safely hit the ground...again he believes..
A man with faith jumps out of a plane with a parachute knowing he will land safely...action based on faith based on trust
to clarify, faith is backed by belief, faith is the action of a person who put their belief in action.
so to your original question
"Does science require faith to progress?"
IF the person behind the scientific research believes in something that needs to be proven, then yes he needs faith to do so..
stay cool peoples..
