"Very silly response. I don't know too many pedestrians who walk along the roadway rather than stick to a footpath - crossing the road has absolutely nothing to do with this debate - it is about cyclists respecting the rules of the road"
She was cycling within the rules of the road that's the point
The tax stopping where it did was however the contrary
> it also failed to use indicator or hazard lights to create some kind of awareness that it had stopped in the middle of a road. --- it didn't even make a move to get close to the curb which is still not really appropriate considering it's a single lane road - notice the solid whit line ?
As was failing to view the area they where looking to exit the taxi for any oncoming traffic - it should be expected that traffic may be there as they are trying to perform the manoeuvre in the middle of a road with flowing traffic & this includes looking for cyclists as well as vehicles.
The cyclist was travelling in a straight line to the left of traffic in exactly the position they should be - there was no "surprise" passing it was clearly visible all they had to do was look.
The only reason I puled pedestrians into it crossing the road as many posts here seem to imply vehicles OWN the road so anything besides a piece of steel has no place. Pedestrians are only required to use crossings if they are within 20m so therefore many will also legally cross without traffic lights.
Most cyclists drive as well hence we already pay registration.
