Have come across a very controversial theory as to why Malaysia has been evasive at PPRune.org, with a link to a Hong Kong paper carrying the story.....trouble is, the article is in Chinese, and I havent found a reputable English translation....
    Here is the link:
    ?????-??????????? - %E5%82%B3%E6%A9%9F%E9%95%B7%E5%8A%AB%E6%A9%9F%E6%8C%BA%E5%AE %89%E8%8F%AF %E8%AB%87%E5%88%A4%E7%A0%B4%E8%A3%82%E6%B2%B9%E7%9B%A1%E5%A2 %9C%E6%B5%B7

Any Chinese translators here on HC? lol.

We know that Captain Shah was a fanatical opposition activist, have even seen a pic of him with his "There is No Democracy" T-shirt.
We know that Shah attended the trial of gaoled opposition leader Anwar Ibraham just before the flight....
We know that Captain Shah was related to Anwar Ibraham through marriage...

The theory is that once airborne, Capt Shah turned off NEARLY all communications gear, and then negotiated with the Malaysian Govt for hours for the release of Anwar Ibraham.......the Malaysian Govt refused, and the plane crashed when out of fuel.
Crazy as it seems, it would explain Malaysia's reticence at first, to provide information...and it would explain the silence of other international parties, in whose interests such an occurrence is NOT.
Illogical or not, tell me it COULD NOT have happened.
Disclaimer: No, I'm not convinced it did, but it makes a good story.
