A "GREEN front group's" attacks on a Tarkine mining hopeful proved the Greens were "absolutely opposed" to mining, the state Liberals said yesterday.

Liberal mining spokesman Adam Brooks said Save the Tarkine's online "report card" on how it was deterring investment in a mining company "behind one of the most promising new developments in Tasmania is evidence, if ever any was needed, of how truly extreme and out of touch they have become".

"The objectives of Save the Tarkine, as stated on its website, are to deter investment in Venture Minerals and deter mineral exploration in the Tarkine.

"This makes clear that, in spite of everything they have said, the Greens are absolutely opposed to our mining industry and will use every avenue to frustrate development, ultimately costing Tasmanians jobs."

Mr Brooks said the incoming Liberal government's top priority was creating jobs.

"We will make no apologies for standing up to these extremists and supporting mining development," he said.

He said the new government would implement policies including:

Limiting third-party appeals against development.

Tougher penalties for people who invaded work sites.

Promoting Tasmania's mining potential around the world.

Moving the state mining agency to Burnie to "better support the growth of the industry".

Save the Tarkine will run an activist training camp in the Tarkine in April.
