LMB claim that it's possible that mined graphite flake can have at least the properties currently obtained by synthetic flake.....in some instances better. But also key is the guarantee of supply at the specs required.
Synthetic graphite sells for $20,000 - $160,000 per tonne depending on the end use.
Natural graphite is not going to threaten the chemical companies which currently supply synthetic from their horrendously expensive plants any time soon. But if the likes of LMB CAN produce a good product for less than $1,000 a tonne (and sell it for many multiples of this), I would suggest that there will be a market for it somewhere.
That's the plan anyway.
