Army service in Australia should becomes compulsory , for 12 months minimum

when I was in my early 20s, I actually spent 12 months practising meditation, for eight hours a day, in a quiet forest meditation retreat (and the rest of the day do physical work and some studying)

I think this would be more beneficial than compulsory military service because people will learn about what is best for their life by learning about their own body, mind & life

I like to see every young man/woman in this country to learn that life does not owe them anything.

I would like to see every young man/woman in this country educate themselves so they can communicate coherently with words that have real meaning

this statement: "learn that life does not owe them anything" is illogical & without inherent meaning

it seems to be saying that life does not owe people anything but people owe life something (which is learning to use weapons for killing life)

under the rules of logic & human (rather than animal) communication, this does not make any sense & shows a mode of thinking completely alien to both life & rationality

if we actually do owe life the rendering of service to life, why would 12 months of service learning to hate, demonise & kill other human beings by using weapons of destruction be rendering service to life?

why do we think young people must learn the military ways & die in wars in the prime of their life?

why do young men, 18yo to 25yo get sent to wars to die for angry old fearful men (like arion)?

these are important questions. why not simply send the angry old men to war?

A proper army training will have enormous benefits for this country.

    why?

army men & women are not inherently disciplined & decent. how many sex & other scandals occur in the military? when the young soldiers descend upon the night club districts & other party scenes, are they well behaved? when soldiers go to other nations, do they behave well or do they nurture exploitative sex industries in 3rd world nations? how many women have been raped in war & when war ends by soldiers & occupying forces?

Only to have every young Australian , regardless ethnicity ,and religion , standing still in front of the Australia flag , will be a success.

I doubt standing in front of the Australian flag will achieve much

Also centrelink money can be diverted to army , instead wasted on youngsters , drinking themselves out .

when I see groups of soldiers (off duty), they are generally drinking, partying & causing havoc

joining the army will not change anyone's drinking habits

the army creates a lot of anger in its members. its goal is to destroy individuality, destroy critical thinking, for the goal of conformity

this thread has little value apart from providing great insight into the mental state of the person that started it

    peace
