I don't short and don't particularly like the practice, but it is here to stay, so I learn to live with it.

This means three things for me
1 - Stay diversified and not too dependent on any stock.
2 - Don't panic if the shorters get hold of your stock , particularly if fundamentals seem OK , try to ride it out.
3 - Keep some cash to benefit from the opportunities due to shorting by others.

I try to remember, that the market is a jungle and no mercy is shown. Don't confuse the market with civilised society , where it is inapropriate to kick someone when they are down.
