    Hottuna,

your recent posts seem to suggest that you are a HFT proponent if not an apologist.

With reference to your post :

"I find it hilarious this is on a CDU thread. HFT just fulfils the role market makers used to. Not much has changed really. I'm against HFT being given an unfair advantage by receiving economic releases early, but I don't see why in a free market you would stop people trading using computers because they're better at the job than people. Hardly destroying companies, that's just a conspiracy theory peddled by the ignorant.

    hottuna"

I ask you you ..why do you find the topic is hilarious on the CDU thread?

What role does HFT fulfil the role that market makers used to?

I agree that in a free market people us computers to buy /sell/trade ...but I cannot agree in any way whatsoever your assertion that.. "because they're better at the job than people". I say to you "who can afford HFT trading" ..can you?

Then you go on with " Hardly destroying companies, that's just a conspiracy theory peddled by the ignorant."

PROVE YOU STATEMENT! The evidence may be against you. While you are at it prove that it is not destroying national wealth and not increasing small investor wealth...In turn destroying long term, small to mid tier, investor market investment.

The current US government action is compelling so is the delay in the IPO by one of the US HFT peddlers to the top end traders.

Why did last years big global dip happen in New York markets??? rectified within minutes ..a proven massive HFT computer war stuff up.

For a balancing view: (note the last paragraph particularly)

    High-Frequency Hyperbole
Beware of critics who are 'talking their book' about trading that lowers costs

Why do you call this a balancing view??? It's more an piece of propaganda for vested interests purporting to balance the PRO's and Con's IMO ..The balance seems to be heavily weighed towards the Cons ..BTW ..Are you a HFT trader?.. or do you have a super fast trading platform no regular investor can afford?

I gave up on investing in the markets some time ago ..because of the HFT's combined with the superfast short trades. That is why I do not hold any stock ...but I can comment with qualification on any Stock per se ..without holding a position.

When I see the market regulated with regard to HFT's I might reinvest with initial trepidation.

Shorting without the HFT's provides all the liquidity you could ask for ..otherwise you could view it as being a rigged system. A very few of NY bankers have very recently changed their attitude towards the HFT's and seem to be pre empting future legal action. No doubt the rest will follow.

What was wrong with the market investments over a decade ago when ,at least, you stood a chance of turning a profit.in the long term.

I view CDU ,warts and all, as a very reasonable long term investment without the interference from the HFT Algo's and the incessant shorting.

The danger is that the HFT's might destroy the inbuilt, non conformist, company worth developed by the management over a long period of time. Who was responsible for that dramatic drop in CDU SP a couple of years ago??? Was that JORC result really worth that sudden plunge to $1 or thereabouts.??? Not im my view ..but I never held shares at the time and all I can attribute that to was total over reaction and a lot of HFT's and shorting. I do recall it was a nightmare of a trading stock with Lynas and Sundance...unbelievable trading on my IRESS screen. My computer had a 15 second lag time to buy or sell if the internet connection was running at maximum speed. The low RAM and shit connection kept freezing my system ..so I did not do to well.

    Jadel

As I am a "creature" of habit I have been lured out of the woodwork by what you say...

"Where are the creatures who crawl out of the woodwork every now and again on this thread and state that all is well with the system Ugh!!!"

Yeah Jadel.... Id rather not pay 30 bucks a trade the odd time I do buy shares and therefore agree all is not perfect.... but to blame a long term share price on milliseconds or whatever trading hour to hour...day to day... is not the big picture here imo.

Ban those robot like computers, they have no place in the future! LOL. Where's will robinson? when you need him.

IMO As long as we have jorc like regulatory guidelines we can all be more comfortable the long term valuations of the assets and thus SP aren't affected by those milliseconds hey.

    XXww etc

    You say:

"Ban those robot like computers, they have no place in the future! LOL. Where's will robinson? when you need him.

    Fundamentals will prevail.. don't stress"

Very Funny ..Not! What planet are you on ?

What fundamentals are you talking about with CDU XXww etc?

Are they your jaundiced fundamentals or are they HFT /Short inspired statements?

    Enough of the crap!!

The Clan Vs the Long termers saga continues.

    It's very sad!

Good luck which ever way you shake the tree ..I do not hold, but I get peeved with some of the Bull Faeces I keep reading here.

Production will happen ..whatever the market prices and conditions are and the shipping and payment dynamics appear imminent.

Make your judgement after a year of shipping and associated financials.

    Cheers

    HR

No advice ..just my views ..if I am allowed...other certainly give theirs. No time to edit the above ..what you read is what you get! Like it or lump it.
