Yes I agree re Maldon 'vespasian'.
My sources have told me many times in recent months that if Gold was around $400oz. levels then yes, Maldon would not be 'commercially viable'.
But since Gold is now soaring to 25 year highs, Maldon is now extremely viable, commercially highly lucrative, and worth the extra efforts required to extract it from difficult proximities. And apparently there is heaps of it,
just difficult to get to, and log, and estimate.
Remembering that the farm-in agreement with Heathgate free-carries AGS only up to a decision to mine, I think the Maldon Goldfields and processing plant fully cranked up, extracting, and producing big Gold profits (ie. 100% AGS owned) give AGS a lot of 'insurance' and 'bargaining power' in its future dealings/negotiations with General Atomics/Heathgate.
When you consider AGS have held Maldon since something like 1994, and it was their main 'prize' asset for many, many years, and then consider that there has been numerous board changes since then,
and yet they are still all talking about Maldon being a winner, I think they know exactly what they've got there, and now the Gold price is right, they are moving 'heaven and earth' to get it into operation.
In fact, money raised in the last rights issue was predominantly to kick start Maldon operations as soon as possible in 2006. Very smart this management team,
and I will stand quoted that Maldon could indeed provide the backbone and cash in the near future for AGS to successfully carry through with the joint venture with Heathgate and actually be a 25% mining partner in a Uranium Company Maker at the Beverley 4Mile prospects.
As to the original question, because General Atomics own Heathgate (Private Company), and they are 75% of the farm-in agreement, I couldn't see any 'significant' corporate interest in AGS, at least not until an official JORC estimate is announced.
Remember that the top 20 in AGS hold in excess of 60% of the stock as well, but I've learnt 'never say never'.
