Sort of reminds me of the old rubbery figures characters.
Being the buyer of so much of the world's raw materials, they are in the unique position of being able to influence the price of the commodities that they need. So they say they don't need as much . . . price drops . . . put in an order at the lower price . . . price rises.
Bit like the supermarket system in Oz.
