This is the problem that I have experienced . I suggested to these bank people that we should discount the rental income by 25% to allow for the unlikely event that some of the properties were empty part of the time .
They countered that for the amount involved , they would go for a much higher discount . At the time , it didn't matter as I wasn't interested in borrowing any more . I was , however , interested in seeing how much I could borrow should I decide to .
I'm not sure how one becomes classified ' a property investor ' . How many properties or what sort of rental turnover would be needed to reach that classification ?
