How about, I'm proud of where I came from,my parents,how I was raised,how I live,my wife and children,the food I grow,the job I do,the place I live,the freedom I enjoy,where I am headed,the community I live whithin. All these things define me as Australian. And yes there is a certain expectation of how you should behave whithin the community, lawlessness is the alternative.
Sorry mate, but brainwashed I ain't. I love Australia and what it stands for and the opportunities it provides. What I do or how I worship it is no less important than old mate up the road in his mosque or any other form of temple.
The thing is Australia was cut and moulded with certain beliefs, which you would have to agree must be pretty well right on the money. If not how come so many people are trying to get here.
Not trying to stir trouble, just trying to understand why some people seem to think our culture is inferior.
You say you have no sense of pride to be Australian? That's fine and your choice. Would you be proud to be Japanese or German? Just remember someone gave the ultimate sacrifice so you could be apathetic , whether you asked for it or not makes little difference.
