You have to wonder if the Game of Thrones franchise would be as big and profitable as it is without piracy. Piracy has allowed the show and it's popularity to spread around the globe at an enormous rate, increasing sales in merchandise, DVDs/Blurays, the books, and even monetising the appearance of the stars and author at public events. Piracy is also a symptom of products not being made available in an acceptable timeframe, and not being made available at a value price. Piracy is worse in Australia because we are denied the service that we all should have in this digital economy.
