If they (the Chinese Govt) were expecting a shipment that included all the hardware and software relating to a control centre for US drones, then you can understand the scale of this search.

Boeing installed the ability for remote control of its aircraft after 9/11. Alleged cellphone message and photo, with embedded co-ordinates, sent by one of the passengers. The co-ordinates were in Diego Garcia. All Israeli embassies world wide were closed just after this aircraft disappeared, possibly due to Iran getting hold of the Drone technology.
