I don't think that blind, unthinking obedience is called for. Jesus had problems with the Pharisees over this point

i say,

i am a literalist (if that's even a word)

think about it like this,

imagine the smartest man you know,

now imagine that smart man being the most honest man you ever knew

now imagine that smart man having your best interest at heart

now imagine that smart man loving you.

if such a man existed, and ask you to do something, would you not do it, knowing that man was smart, honest, had your best interest at heart and loved you?

now imagine a creator who "made Heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is,

now imagine that creator being honest, having your best interest at heart and loving you.

that is how i see God.

that is why, when he says jump, i ask how high.
