    Hmmmm....

I live on the outskirts of Brisbane.......and over the years spent a lot of time living and working (on a residential basis) all over Australia including the Territory and Western Qld .......and frankly, I loved it and was well paid to do so. Whilst the salary may have been lower than city options........so were the costs.

And what was the best thing about working out there ??? THE PEOPLE !!! Its unfair to suggest otherwise. My personal experience showed that almost always , their work ethic and attitude was far superior to those of the city dwellers. Get up and go ??? absolutely and often in harsh environments but always got the job done and displayed a kinship and determination that Australia has been built on...

To suggest "Cudeco has inevitably lowered the standard of its workforce by not offering what some of the labour force wants" particularly without having been onsite working alongside these folk is insulting .

What Cudeco has done is drawn on a local workforce, and indeed created a local workforce of people who are keen to work, have the right attitude and obviously have the capacity to construct , and operate the plant and machinery required. Its probably fair to say that one of the biggest problems to date (the crusher)has come from external expertise outsourced from afar ???

Bring in specialists when required.....that's the way many companies worldwide do it, but draw on a local labour source and indeed train/ supervise them as required is very cost effective.

Would love to spend more time out there again but my current work has me traveling overseas regulary on projects and living in Brisbane is convenient.......I do however hate going to the local shopping centre and seeing the lazy generation we have created (often high as kites )waiting for the centrelink office to open each and every day.

Please all.....lets not insult the country folk and those who have chosen to put their best foot forward and relocate to Cloncurry as I believe they are doing very well in what is a very hot dry place to work. Carry on guys and gals...will gladly buy you all a drink at the AGM
