It seems quite strange how Hamish Broome article can be so different to Gabrielle Chan article in the guardian yet talking about the same letter and the same 2 farmers.
- NS claims 32 Bentley farmers signatories to a letter where The Guardian saids Lowrey wrote a letter with Davis to the local paper to point out their opposition to Metgasco’s development, while maintaining support for the Graham family. He ran the letter past 37 other farmers. Of those, 34 offered their support, although they did not sign it.
- The NS also forgot to mention that the farmers are very supportive of the Graham family and even admitted that they have been subjected to abuse.
"We are worried about the Graham family. They have been our fellow farmers, workmates and friends for decades. Their farm may be the centre of the dispute, but it could easily be one of ours. They need our support, they do not deserve abuse"
What is not disputed is Metgasco's management of wells even Mr Davis said he "had no problems with Metgasco's management of the well or the rehabilitation of the land."
The major concerns out of both the two articles are actually.
1. Infrastructure
2. Hydraulic fracturing
3. Being linked to abusive protesters
Each of those concerns I see can easily be addressed through proper dialogue via the correct channels. LtG are famous for spreading misinformation, Lowrey who has said “I don’t even know how to turn a computer on,” would be relying on this type of misinformation when instead a quick phone call to NSW Office of Water - Richard Green, team leader Groundwater North would tell you that they have no concerns with the Bentley project. It's a conventional gas bore in that they are looking for dry gas, not fracking for coal seam gas.
