    Bowral,

Do you believe our origins are from evolution?

I don't believe in evolution in the same way that people believe in God. I do believe that it is a well tested scientific theory that despite over a 100 years of trying no scientists have disproved it in spite of the fact this is possible to do so. If it is ever disproved, no worries from me. That's science.

But that dosent mean that all people who believe in those terrible beliefs you named, but didnt give a reason why they are so bad

Did I say people were bad because of their beliefs? If I did I need to be pulled up, and apologise if I did.

I know alot of people who believe in for example evolution, and yet when questioned, they dont know why they do,they give answers like, thats what we were taught at school,or isnt that science?

I feel sorry for these people as they seem to be just following the herd. I was never taught evolution at school or at university and am "self taught".

So i dont get your point to be honest, the opponents in any belief system will always claim indoctrination, just because someone dosen't believe as you do,why are they indoctrinated?

I hold the view that people can believe what they like. It saddens me when I see people being bonded to a belief system by fear (eg believe or else) and struggling pensioners paying 10% of their incomes to support a guy with a fancy car and house. The way in which these people are persuaded to pay up I think in immoral.

You are correct that some people claim that opponents to their belief system are indoctrinated. This is rubbish in some cases, and true in others.

    Freedom of thought
I suppose the only way to control what people think is through indoctrination. In my view the hallmark of a good education is freedom of thought - as in encouraging people to think and explore for themselves.

    Free speech?
There are restrictions that I could think of. For example I don't think that we are entitled to threaten to harm anyone or to encourage someone else to do so. I have no problem with people criticising me or my ideas, as long as they don't threaten my safety. Thinking about it, telling people that they will suffer eternal damnation if they don't hold certain beliefs falls into the category of threatening people.

Bowral, I'm glad you didn't ask me about the meaning of life:)

Going to bed now. Have a good night.
