We just dont think about it. Just like when you bought your cars, you don't think about depreciation, insurance, maintenance, modification, etc... You just use it.
If you have held properties for decades the massive capital gains overshadow all the expenses. Same principle, when you run a business... first 2 yrs normally a loss, if you made it, you'll start making profit on the 3rd or 4th year onward... and overtime if your business prosper, your profits catch up fast & overshadow all previous loss. overtime when it grow so much, buying a porsche is a peanut. This is just my easy to understand explanation.
