    For me this is a very interesting topic.

    I think about the question of the relationship between reality and how we perceive it.

    Consider for example of the room that is higher at one end than the other - our brains reject the abnormal shape of the room and instead change the size of a person moving in the room.

    Magicians use the fact that what we perceive can be a deception of reality.

    And that's only a start. It seems that we are very much conditioned by our experiences as youngsters. I can understand the fear of snakes for example, but have no idea why some have such a fear of even small moths other than a bad experience when young.

    It is often difficult to shake off irrational beliefs acquired when very young. It seems that the irrational side of our minds overrides the rational side (assuming the two exist) making it difficult to ditch irrational beliefs. For example some are unfortunate to be brought up in societies in which race as an issue. It sometimes takes a lot of effort for many to shake off the irrational thoughts about people of different races.
