Hi Copper Chopper, Not sure where this "high grade" uranium fits in the Hillside scenario but its a great card to play if one wants to generate negative propaganda. I presume (though I might be incorrect) this is with reference to the reconstituted hot Hiltaba Suite granites which outcrop over parts of S.A. Unfortunately the public will never be totally convinced they are safe, radiation is a very emotive subject! Shame if the Port Pirie smelter is used to disparage Hillside, Hillside is, in no way,a lead smelter. The concept of a "social licence" bothers me too, I consider that perhaps we are taking the individual rights and privileges just a bit too far. For example we can never guarantee 100% safety. nor can we guarantee that a dam is totally waterproof. As regards safety, accidents unfortunately do happen but ,as the adage goes "that's life!" (or death if you are the unlucky one!) IMO waterproofing with a clay base would be acceptable,a catastrophic failure of the dam would surely be extremely unlikely. In order to appease the locals maybe a liner could be used. Not sure what relevance there is in differentiating farmers from other locals. IMO 300 people (at least a few of them there as sticky beakers) doesn't constitute a massive no confidence vote IMO.BOLTA!
