Anyone who uses their brain can see the problem with adjusting raw data based on unknown variables. The adjustment is based on an assumption that they know what every drop of water is doing and why. The issues faced by their models wouldn't keep cropping up and continually need defending if they understood what the climate would do in the first place. Real world events aren't matching their theoretical models. That is the test! No ifs or buts! Game over.
