Ojos del Salado
Description: Ojos del Salado consists of two underground copper mines, Santos and Alcaparrosa, both of which are near Candelaria.
***Location: Approximately 10 miles east of Copiapó, in northern Chile's Atacama province, Region III.*** (very close to the marianas iron tailings)
Ores: The Ojos del Salado mines are **iron oxide** and copper and gold deposits. Primary sulfide mineralization consists of chalcopyrite.
