A nephew of mine travelling to Ireland with a friend helped an elderly lady at an airport along the way [A thoroughly likeable lad]. Not sure if they sat together but by the time they arrived they had an invitation for dinner where they met the son who took them to a rugby match.
By the time they left they had struck a deep friendship with Rose, this lady with laughing Irish eyes. She now flies to Australia every couple of years where she is a houseguest of the lad's parents for a couple of weeks. We gave her a wonderful 80th b'day party and she said then she had more, better friends here than in Ireland.
Maybe that's more a random act of kindness but it changed some lives in a wonderful way.
