    Chrysallis,

You sir are an absolute struggler!

I never said that others have not had an "experience" whatever that may mean to you or me or anyone else. Please show me where I said that, otherwise your comments simply look ridiculous and aggressive.

I said that there is no point trying to sway people who hold an a priori assumption about the world that they are wrong. How is this unreasonable? It is factually correct from hundreds of data samples that I - and I'm sure many others on here - have experienced during encounters with people in the real world, from all walks of life.

If we're talking about personal revelation then you are quite correct that I have not experienced what you might describe as a God-like revelation. And you're correct that it in no way implies others have not.

The important part however is actually defining that "experience" which is where a theist and non-theist will never agree. You may put events of this general nature down to something spiritual, metaphysical and beyond the every day world of things as the poet Rilke would describe them; however given it is a very personal experience that is not measurable with any apparatus of mind if physics, to allow the billions of other people out there that didn't experience it to do so... surely you can forgive some people for believing in an alternate hypothesis as to the general nature of what it is that you experienced. One can hardly argue that the experience and description of revelation is a binary event that has a correct or incorrect answer.

I'll admit i find it informative how many people of faith tend to get so worked-up and on edge when their revelation is questioned (which in this case, i didn't even do). Seems to me the ones who are most comfortable with their faith are usually the ones who are quite humble, rarely get aggressive and are more than willing to engage in dialogue on philosophical issues, including their own belief system.
