    That's a well considered post - snuff.

The thing about the whole process of religious writing in the Judaic system is that they have a thing called midrashic tradition. In essence it's a process of embellishing the present with events from the past. The Christ story over time begins to resemble characters from the old testament.

The rising after 3 days is more likely to suggest that, after 3 days of mourning the death of Christ the disciples began to teach His message again. Thus He rose symbolically. Later embellishments were added to the story out of poetic licence.

As for immortality. You may indeed have some kind of experience that convinces you of a continuation after death. Many people do. For me I can't understand how it could be any other way. I believe that existence is utterly meaningless unless all our hard gained understanding and efforts transcend physical death. Every single part of the universe is so contrived, so perfectly contained within the bounds of physical laws that this clearly suggests to me an overarching force has a vested interest in the entire fabric of the universe. Why is it not then possible that the same substance of this cognitive force is also attached to us and released at death with our personality and knowledge intact?
