Glug, Looking at your charts I have a new-found respect for Menzies. [never was a fan]
It seems he did a lot of work paying down the massive war debt, but those following looked to be there for a good time, not a long time. It was not until Howard, a Menzies disciple, that anyone took putting some away for a rainy day seriously. [that's what a surplus is] Thankfully, he did.
