I plan to open a Menzies museum later in the year and I will be doing a lot of research and collecting a lot of info about Menzies to put the museum together.
How come you've got THAT job? I can't imagine you would be sympathetic towards him. So I'm curious what was it about Menzies made you not a fan?
I was young and idealistic. Everyone like this thinks things could be better and blames the incumbent government that it isn't. And "Pig Iron Bob" was fresh in my memory. It is only now I realise how treacherous labor were in those years.
My attitude to Sir Joh has changed too now that I see the hopeless state governments who can't run a budget with all the extra taxes they have, that he didn't. He had no pokies or cigarette levy and ran the only "free" hospital system in the country. He built power stations and encouraged mining even if it needed a royalty holiday to get started. One might say "Come back Joh. All is forgiven".
My current anti-labor stand is PURELY on performance. I am not a natural Tory, I'm a "swinging voter" but don't say that any more, too many Tony haters say the same.
