Clearly, the churches provide no basis for believing that they are genuine Christians. What does their record show? It shows that their members were the principal combatants in the world’s two greatest wars; they slaughtered not only one another but innocent women and children as well. So should we entrust children into their care? You judge for yourself!
I'm not sure that the world wars were fought in the name of Christianity in the same sense that the Crusades were or in the same way that jihads are currently carried out in the name of Islam. It does seem that opposing forces in the world wars claimed that they were both on God's side, a fact that lead an uncle to become an atheist.
I take your point. I think it is one of the reasons that people are walking away from religion.
