Not good news on the face of it but the reasons provided for the suspension are that MEL have to establish they met there licence conditions by conducting proper public consultation. This suspension may not be that long-term as from what I have seen the company had been involved in a lot of public consultation and therefore should be able to demonstrate that they have met those requirements of the licence.

As for the ICAC referral it relates to "shareholders" so I have no idea what this relates to although I can't imagine it impacts it's tenements which were issued nearly 20 years ago.

A body blow for shareholders but at this stage, far from a knock out punch. The fundamentals have not changed NSW requires gas, the price of gas appears likely to spike, MEL is sitting on what appears to be very gas rich lands.
