Free Will
the taking of babies from unwed mothers for adoption to save stigma on her family was common here in Australia across all social stratas and religions until the wide distribution of birth control and the availability of 'legal' abortions commenced in the 1970's.
There was no pension for unwed mothers before the 70's either.
I imagine now that the Australian Catholic Church still counsels the sinner with the adoption option with the alternative of taking the pension.
Perhaps Chile does not have this welfare payment. Perhaps the Catholic Church still has 'power' over birth control and abortion in Chile but in my lifetime this coersion of unwed mothers was commonplace here in Australia.
They [all christian church organisations] used to run Laundries for example 'employing' the pregnant teenagers on a room and board basis.
so Free Will it's the christian not only catholic stance against birth control and abortion that exacerbates the natural angst of the 'sinner' unwed mother.
