Where did the coal that drives the electricity that allows you to post on this site come from ? It must have come from someone else's back yard. How do you feel about being in their back yard ? Truth is, if you are to enjoy the conveniences of the modern world your foot print is in many backyards.
What can we do about this .... well, try and behave responsibly. Every moving thing needs energy....including the electrons running down the internet.
Right up till 3 days before commencement of drilling there was no communication of discontent from the bodies that administrate coal seam gas in NSW. There was ample opportunity to communicate any issues. Many weeks and many months.
That the plug was pulled on the Metgasco operation stinks to high heaven. It is no victory for you. It is a defeat for Metgasco, for orderly society, for the gas users of NSW, for the manufacturing sector in NSW and Australia and all those people who depend on the manufacturing sector. It is a defeat that has been enabled by poor, weak and incompetent government and agitated for by people whose contribution to the daily running of the nuts and bolts of daily society is so low that they have ample time on their hands in which to protest. And, by the way .... apart from those who are retired ......how can those who are protesting at Bentley afford such a long time off ? Don't they have jobs to go to? If not , whose " back yard" are they getting their daily bread from . Even before contemplating who washes and who doesn't .......the whole thing stinks to high heaven. There are no winners here - we are all losers.
