One of the biggest contradictions in Buddhism, is the fact that Siddhartha Gautama. The one acknowledged with starting the philosophy that is Buddhism gave away all his worldly possessions and renounced his rights as prince.
Much later, once they deified this ordinary man and called him Buddha. 99% of the idols created are to do with the enhancement of wealth.
Palm down = bring in money.
Palm up = bring in luck.
I know for a fact that Siddhartha Gautama would not be happy if he saw what they did with his teaching of helping the poor by ridding yourself of all material possessions.
