jconnell, looks to more proud of his Irish heritage than being worried about any loyalty or pride in Australia .
Too many people willing to live and accept the benefits of Australia , but dont want to totally commit themselves to their new country .
And if anyone is wondering , I am of Scottish birth , have been here for 36 years , I class myself as Australian , but I dont see the point of changing or rubbishing the flag .
Too many people want rid of what they call the Pommie flag , thats where they are wrong , it is the British Flag , the Union Jack , this combines the Countries of Scotland , England , parts of Ireland and Wales.
And no matter how many want to bury their head in the sand .
That is part of our heritage , and must not be forgotten .
Yet , we are being asked to change the Flag to appease newcomers from various Countries who wont forget THEIR own heritage .
People dont need to forget all their own customs and beliefs .
But If it is in conflict to the new Country THEY chose to live in , then their old beliefs MUST take second place .And they must change .
If I am invited to Auntie Mary's for tea , and I dont like her curtains , bet If I commented on her lack of taste in her own home , I would then not be welcome anymore .
Anyway , have a good day on AUSTRALIAN DAY , and for all NEW Aussies taking the pledge .
